Anyone knows or bought Thomann Baroque Guitar on the website? I am tempted to buy one, it looks really good but I am worried the peg may be a problem, you need to keep tunning all the time. The tone…Continue

Hi, Yong, unfortunately I don't play or own any lute: my only early instrument is the renaissance guitar which is strung only with gut. I purchase my gut strings from German Kuerschner:

Their strings are of very good quality but priced very reasonably. You can download thier price list here:

I haven't used nylgut strings on my RG, but have tried them on a modern classical guitar and a couple of different soprano ukuleles. I felt that the thinner strings sounded OK, but the thicker ones (G string of a guitar and C string of a uke) didn't work for me. I do have a set of nylgut for my RG, but have kept it unused for this reason.
FWIW, I bought the nylgut strings from Matthias Wagner:
They have nylgut strings in all guages in stock most of the time, and the transaction have been smooth.
Hi, Yong, thank you for adding me to your friend. Hope you will enjoy viditing here ongoingly. By theway, have you got the strings you wanted?
Thank you.
You are very kind.
Greetings.
Alexandros.
Hi Yong! Nice to hear from you! I paid appr. $30 for the gut baroque string set. I had to be careful not to exceed $32, then I would have to pay VAT. So I had to include one nylon string in order to avoid that! I ordered the strings from Gamut. I also bought fret gut from the same firm, and refretting my Baroque guitar improved the playability greatly.
Good luck!
Best regards
Harry
