Tecla also has a Fernando Ferandiere book available.

Thanks for your comments. I played some of the pieces with on original guitar (by Lorenzo Alonso, 1797). Here you can hear a sample ("Laberinto" y "Marcha") with this guitar (http://thomasschmitt.wordpress.com/proyectos/cds-discography/). To be honest, it's a fantastic experience with this old instrument.

And yes, you're right, this repertoire must be played more. Unfortunately, only few music was published and most of the pieces exist only as copies in libraries. So for guitarists and musicologists there is still much to do. The pieces can be found  in the Public Library (Biblioteca municipal) and the Conservatory of Madrid. But if you have a little patience, the editorial Doblinger will publish the scores during 2012. Only the "theme with 10 variation" by Ferandiere yet has been published at Doblinger.

Best wishes, Thomas

Well! First let me say. Very nice played, loved the sound. I think it's so interesting when people record something unknown, so I'm also gonna purchase this cd. Second. This music You play is it possible to buy it somewhere perhaps I could buy a copy of Your sheet Thomas. I love digging in to new and unkown composers.

Excellent, Thomas. I will definitely buy a copy. I briefly played a Pages 6c guitar once, and enjoyed doing so. It has always been at the back of my mind that it would be an interesting area to explore. Now you have done it for me! I wasn't sure how much repertoire survived for it, but you have obviously done the research. At one point I even thought some early pieces by Sor and Aguado might be eligible, as they both started their guitar lives playing six courses.

I look forward to hearing your disc, and hope it is available on iTunes soon, as I do almost all my listening these days on an iPad.

Best wishes with it!
