I'm a Townsend fan, but for me it's Eric Clapton.

Who is that nut on the guitar? ;-) Come on, David, a few Pete Townshend windmill strokes were clearly needed here!

D'Addario is one of the least expensive and fastest ways to get strings. The rectified nylon is about a dollar a string. You can order them online and turnaround is very fast. There are so many different kinds of strings you have to try things out...

Hi David, excellent performance, and what a noble idea - you are truely a good man, giving work to a further violinist - in contrary to me, saving all the two soloists at Uccellini´s Chaconne (see at the lutegroup.ning page) ;-)) .

Make sure you avail yourself of the videos that people have been doing, here, on Vimeo and youtube. They are much better than CDs because they are not edited, and you can see how people really play the music. Not to mention free, although you coul...

Most rosettes are a bit too closed, but I had once a lute where the rose came out (removed by a viol bow), and then the sound was too open. I always wonder if the really fancy roses are too closed...but they look so cool!

After a lull in the market, I sort of shifted to archlutes and baroque guitars. --A few ren lutes when called on. I make my neck extensions exclusively of unveneered redwood after witnessing your incredibly light theorbo.

I played my first continuo gig on March 7 with Sacramento Baroque Soloists on one of my own archlutes. They said I did fine, but I was very nervous and felt very small amongst the pros! Now, I really need to hit the continuo books hard. I hope they use me again some time--It was a rush!

Hey David,
Long time no see. I'm not doing Dartmouth any more--any workshops this year?
Best,
Mike
