Foscarini tabs for the Baroque guitar

On ensemble Kapsberger and Rolf Lislevands wonderful CD "Alfabeto", 3 beautiful tunes by Forcarini are being played: Tasteggiata per la X, Corriente per la X and Volta francese per la X. Anyone on this forum who knows where I can get hold of these tabs? I didn't find them on Gavin Emery's "The Baroque Guitar." I have just put a capo on the second fret of my converted classical "Baroque Guitar", and the sound became wonderfully brilliant and crisp, giving me also 10 frets on the fingerboard as a real replica. This brilliance in tone  renewed my interest, and since I am still waaaaaiting for my Voboam I need to play my home made one!

Well - they are the pieces on p.48 and p.49 of Foscarini's original book which is available in facsimile but Lislevand's versions of them are somewhat removed from Foscarini's own very sketchy little movements. If you want to explore some genuine Foscarini - look at my page on this site where you will find transcriptions of a number of his pieces - but not these particular pieces - which leave a lot to the player's imagination.

I have already done so, Monica; trying to find the ones I like best. I have a problem, though: it's difficult to read the Italian tabs, since I'm used to the French system. But then I found that I could simply turn the sheet upside down and play from the bottom up - and NO PROBLEM!

Well - I have just found a transcription of the Tasteggiata into staff notation - in a collection of pieces by Foscarini edited by Alexander Bellow and published in 1964 in his Renaissance & baroque series, vol. 7. I have downloaded it as a jpg file to my page. Copy it quick if you want it as I may be infringing copyright so I think I must take it off in a day or two. The edition doesn't include the other two pieces.

I have just uploaded to my page a few pieces from my Foscarini collection in French tab. These include the Corrente and Volte francese which Lislevand plays. You will see that Foscarini's version is less than basic and leaves a lot to the imagination and although it is barred regularly with 3 quarter notes to a bar the actual rhythm is much more complicated. I think that these pieces may be arrangements of lute pieces. Perhaps Lislevand has traced the originals but I think a lot of what is on the CD is his own work. Hope this is helpful.

Monica, you are my heroine! I have been playing the beautiful Tasteggiata you kindly put on your page, with certain minor adaptations for 5 courses, and it sounds great! I'm looking forward to having a go at the new ones in French tab. You said you wouldn't promise, but I did harbour a small hope......
