Thought this maybe of interest:
These guys make good quality Jarana Terceras(Mexican Baroque Guitar Derivative) http://comosuena.com/paramusicosinstrumentosjarochos.html
Interestingly they will add a ninth string and supply with tuning pegs as opposed to machines - I know someone who has had one made this way for use in live situations to save damaging extremely expensive replicas.
Would also make an excellent starter instrument for those wanting to play Baroque guitar repertoire but don't want to commit a four figure purchase sum immediately.
I couldn't see a price on that page. What are they charging for a 6c with pegs?
One of the reasons the baroque guitar is not so popular among players is the cost of the intrument. Luthiers like to show off their skills, understandably, and have to charge accordingly. To have a cheap alternative that allows access to the tunings and techniques of the repertoire would be a great help.
Looks interesting - I would like to try an instrument that is not too far off a baroque guitar (a hand made bg would be way out of my budget at the moment, unfortunately)
My baroque guitar (the one I have on my profile picture) was made by a Luthier similar to the ones on that page. I provided him with plans and got a playable, nice-sounding and very affordable guitar.
