Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

I acquired this in a ruined state and have restored it (mostly needed mastic edging redone and was missing many of the ivory frets so I replaced with bone). Unmarked.  Flamed maple body. I believe it is Italian circa 1800-1810. Note the fingerboard is fully inset.

It's 100%  French (100% not Italian), Mirecourt. possible an early Roudhloff. They sometimes stamped their guitars inside on the linings. But never seen their decoration (inlays) in that style.

Ah, thanks I'll scope the inside more thoroughly to look for a stamp. A guess on the decade?

you are right 1810s

a photo of one I once had, and another from a book. Please remember, I am not saying that it IS  by the Roudhloffs.
