I play guitar, minstrel and other early banjos, mandolin, mandocello, Renaissance lute, cittern, and English guitar.

I know 'Time Team' broadcast repeats frequently and Channel 4 should be able to tell you when they are scheduled. The programme about the lyre was called 'The King of Bling'; daft title.
Other progs you might like are 'Music's missing link' and 'An Organistrum for Santiago'.

You are mistaken, but understandably. The lyre is one I made for the'Time Team' programme base don the evidence turned up in the Prittlewell dig in 2004. It resembles the Sutton Hoo lyre in many ways. You can also hear my own programme called the Saxon Lyre broadcast on BBC Radio 4 about three years ago.

Do we know each other from the ning banjo website? I play a fretless banjo, some Briggs, Converse stuff. Well, to be more accurate, I am looking onto it. I also play 19thC guitar. Recorded a piece by Fodden once. Interesting repertoire. I hope you can fill us in on early American guitar music.
I even play the 'English guitar' - my, how similar we are!
