I had not noticed this thread when it started. I think this cantata works perfectly fine on the guitar. I made a recording of it a few years ago, with Paule-Andrée Nirouet (voice) and musicians of the Ensemble L'Astrée, at the time directed by Jean Nirouet. You can listen to this piece on my page, where I put it in my music list. I does sound very Spanish in my opinion and suits the guitar very well indeed !

It actually looks like Spanish 18th century notation. Filled black dots to show that accents are not in the usual place. Tied notes and syncopated passages end up with plenty of black dots.

The author makes a good point that the piece was not intended for guitar but more likely for archlute o chitarrone.
