Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Many members have shared facsimiles, transcriptions, arrangements, and original compositions. There are also many excellent videos and recordings.

This incredible wealth is accessible by checking the pages of every single member in the group. Is there an index to all these files? If not... Would it be a good idea to make one?

Rob has effectively organised many of the videos on the Vimeo site.
Not a bad idea to organise and index the transcriptions. I simply downloaded the files that were of interest to myself and placed them in a folder.
I agree, Juan. The menu bar links to all videos and photos make them very quick to find and browse. What is not so easy to find (at the moment) are sound only files and scores. Sound recordings could possibly be added to the video section (perhaps renamed Media? or Videos/Sound?). A common reference for scores would be very helpful -- as you say the only way now is to watch for forum threads or click through each member page. This is becoming more time consuming as more and more people join. Scores could include facsimilies, new editions, single page scans (Monica has one), modern compositions, etc. A question for Rob is how easy/automatic could any changes be administered?
Good idea. I have just added a Scores box to the Main Page - scroll down to underneath the photos. I think you will have to send them to me so that I could upload them. I will try to organise them by instrument/composer/publication or manuscript.
This discussion has led to a nice improvement to our Ning group. There is now a new menu tab, a listing of scores, and links to the various member pages where the scores can be found. For the time being I will be maintaining the the score list. Let me know if you have any suggestions/corrections for improving the list.
