Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

I'm not sure of the rules on Early Guitars and Vihuela governing sale of instruments so if this is not acceptable, moderator, please feel free to delete it.

I have a couple Early Romantic guitar copies that I made for myself a few years back and I find I move them from room to room or loan them out more often than I play them (I've made myself others [I prefer multi string guitars these days] to satisfy my desires..."Oh love, how fickle is thy heart"). So rather than sitting in my closet or stepping over them any more I'm offering them up to anyone that will play them. And I need to create more space in the house...according to my wife.

The first is a Johann Anton Stauffer copy, six string with a 596mm string length, "flying fingerboard" adjustable neck and figure eight peghead. The wood is first grade flame Maple back/sides and excellent Engleman spruce top. The neck and head is ebonized and Japanese Lacquered with ebony fingerboard/bridge and boxwood pegs. French Polished back and sides and Hard oil/varnish top.

The sound is typical Stauffer with a quick attack, warm tone and ample sustain. It is well balanced across the rage with good projection.

A couple photos can be seen in my photos on my page here and more detailed photos can be seen on my blog  http://roseberryguitars.blogspot.com/ or email me.

The second is the first copy I made of an original 1834 Panormo that I restored a number of years back. It's made of, quite Brazilian looking, Indian Rosewood back/sides, very fine Sitka Spruce top, Spanish Cedar neck, ebony fingerboard/bridge and Maple machine head. French polished all around.

It's voice is intimate, balanced, warm with nice projection, typical Spanish/Panormo sound. It has been "borrowed" for a number of recordings and live performances in the last year.

A couple photos of it can be seen here in my photos but I will supply more detailed photos should anyone wish and will be posting some on my blog very soon. There is also a bit more info on this guitar on my website here http://www.roseberryguitars.com/Panormo1834.html

Both were built according to original instrument specs and are in very good condition. There are some finish marks from use but nothing of any importance.

I am asking $2500.00 Canadian each, including case. Shipping is extra.

Contact me through my website or through PM here.

Hello John,

Sorry, those guitars are long gone. As is that old website but the server hasn't taken it down yet, I'll have to look into that. My new site is:
