Material for vihuela rosette

Hi all, how are you?

Could you help me with a vihuela rose?

I have made some with parchment, with good results. But now I am trying one with two layers of wood and just one with parchment.

I have tried various woods of various thicknesses, but all but broke. How do you do this?

I have tried with knives and saws.

Hi John, I don't know if you try it, but today I glued the pattern on the veneer with 3M Spray Mount Adhesive. It works very well and I can take the paper off without problems. 

The two wood layers is gluing now. As soon as it cure, I will post a picture.
