Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

A schaccon (chaconne) from the Hedevig Morner Ms, late 17th century Sweden. Edition by Rockford Mjos. Played on baroque guitar. My new baroque guitar is arriving in a couple of weeks and I wanted to make at least one recording with my first student instrument.

Have a look at Rocky Mjos' member page, the edition is there. The BG is by Luciano Faria. Great volume and projection for continuo strumming but I find it very limited for solo work. I'll be picking up my new Barber-Harris "Jacopo Checchucci in Livorno 1623" in 2 weeks.

An amazing "chaconne", have you more information about that manuscript (reference of the edition for example...). Can you tell us more about that guitar (maker, model...?), it's allways fine to collect informations.
Happy new year and keep enjoying music, greetings from the "old world", Patrig
