Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Some Scottish medieval music on a medieval 'Latin' guitar. Although I've had this instrument for a while, I've never really played it before. Enjoyed it, though, and might explore it further.

Lovely sound - I've listened many times. Would a goose or a herring gull feather do? Didnt they use wooden plecta sometimes?

Hey, I live on the west coast of Canada where we have an abundance of eagles...nope sorry, I won't send you one, they can be a bit of an issue to sneak up on and are not all that keen on being grabbed, but if I find some tail feathers I'll send you a few.

Thanks, Scot. I think I need something more appropriate than a Gibson Extra Heavy Plectrum for playing it with! It's alright in the slow, quiet bits, but it gets clunky in the more vigorous bits.

Now, must catch myself an eagle...

Very nice Rob. I'd like to hear more of that instrument should you explore further.
