Well, I also have a renaissance-guitar hack constructed from a "tenorcito". They are a good way to start, indeed.

This is my first classical from 1960, it's a bit smallish and has cracks in the sound board, so instead facing the grim fate of getting more and more obsolete and forgotten, I decided to usher in a new era for it as a baroque guitar after tips found on the Internet. I also removed the saddle from the bridge to lower its action. using small screws in the bridge to separate the strings. Being too old to adapt to different spacings, I cut slots in the nut so that the centres of the courses equaled the distance between the strings of a classical. I have had much pleasure with this guitar and can recommend this solution to others!
