It simply means that the maker of your guitar followed the bridge design as found on the 'Hill'-Strad guitar (from the Ashmolean collection, Oxford). The other bridge, this time with holes and that is also often copied, is as on the 'Rawlins'-Strad guitar (National Music Museum, The University of South Dacota). The thing is that neither of the bridges is original; they were most probably made by the Hills (W.E.Hill & Sons), former owners of these guitars. There is a belief that bridges on Italian 17th century guitars (including those of Stradivari) were made with holes rather than slots. The evidence, however, is rather sketchy to fully confirm the idea, so the choice remains for makers! I personally prefer slots too, in the spirit of the vihuela tradition ...

Lovely! It reminds me of my Stradivarius bridge in that it uses a cut out are rather than drilled holes.
