"Unfortunately a long steep concrete stairway ,unlatched case and grand gestures of waving with case in hand make a bad combination. "
What were the first words out of his mouth at this point? I'm guessing the first was "Oh...."
It reminds me of a story I heard on Car Talk about a guy who's last words were: "Hey guys, watch this!"
Nothing dramatic. Very simply put: un-named person took it to a soiree. At the end of a rather long evening said person was leaving and was saying good byes and proceded to leave . Unfortunately a long steep concrete stairway ,unlatched case and grand gestures of waving with case in hand make a bad combination. No Pete Townsendisms , no spousal discourse, no Shellyisms, although in my work I have come across all of those.
On the captions : I think Andrew said it best " Pounds ? Newtons ? Is there a difference?"
"Maybe it was a fight with the wife."
That reminds me of a guy I went to music school with. His wife belted him with his concert guitar because he spent more time with it than he did with her (in this case I think I understand his choice). He came away with a concussion, a few stitches and the guitar needed a new top.
"Hell hath no furry...."
I'd forgotten all about him until you posted you comment, Caius. Hmmm, I wonder if they are still happily married???
Maybe it was a fight with the wife:
"You said this will be the last instrument you will buy...!!! I hate to clean the dust from all your instruments!!!!!!!!!"
