A network for historic guitars and vihuelas
Can anybody identify this instrument?
Probably painted in Rome in 1758 or 1764, by Pompeo Batoni. Portrait of John Brudenell, later Marquis of Monthermer who owned Boughton House, Kettering, Northants. Grand Tour? Not clear in this reproduction are 8 pegs, 4 courses (1+3X2), 10 frets.
