Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Myself & Stuart McCoy duetting on violas da mano - mine by Stephen Barber & Sandi Harris, the other by Alexander Batov... They sounded lovely together - how long since duets were played on such instruments?

Such power indeed! It was the subject of much comment, as you can imagine & my original title for the picture was 'Ebony & Ivory'. Alas, no recording - perhaps just as well in the early stages (when this was taken & I was rather overawed by the company & occasion; half an hour later, we got on to "My Lord Willoughby's Welcome Home", & Stuart had finessed me onto playing the treble part - now, I do wish there was a recording of that, as it really took off!

Ah, the power of music - to bring such luthiers together to make sweet music!

Any chance of a soundfile?
