Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Anon. (possibly Hans Jordan) German vihuela, ca. 1970/rebuilt by Chad Neal, 2009: Local (to me) uthier Chadwick Neal is a wizard! Scale length is now nearly 63 cm (originally 59 cm), but the piece still fits the original case. Chad placed the new bridge nearer the butt and lengthened the neck by building a shorter pegbox. The fingerboard is original. The sound is quite nice. The original appears to have been based on an early 1500s painting in Barcelona.
