Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Hello to all,

I am new to this comunity. I bought this guitar maybe 10 years ago from a friend who found it in a houshold trash. I've cleaned it and put new Darco classical strings on it and it found a place as wallhanger.

My musical biography contains more black blues musicians than classical heroes but meanwhile I like to play Sor, Carulli and others of the romatic period on my mordern Ramirez.

I've learned also to play modern flute but I've changed to the wooden traverso and with that experience I think I should go to the romantic guitar.

My question is, what kind of guitar do i have?

Maybe you can help to find answere. Is it worth to restore it?

Dear Leopold, it's a late/turn of the century, German guitar, worth £200-300. so it depends what need doing, to determine if it is worth restoring it. James

Mine is very similar, around 1900 german, maybe Markneukirchen, great sound.
greetings
W.
