right hand technique

Here's a simple question for one of those days when you wake up not sure where your right foot is:

For plucking, will the ring finger tend to tuck towards the palm so as not to be in the way of the middle finger, or should it feel free to stretch out somewhat towards a more straight position if the 'neutral' position causes the middle finger to brush it?

Wondering if there's a problem here of overall hand position (or pinky?)
