Taro is playing virtuoso plucked music from an unusual era: from around 1770. He plays some of the most difficult pieces for English guitar - some solos and a sonata with harpsichord accompaniment by Rudolf Straube and some other pieces for English guitar including a Sonata with violin accompaniment by J.C. Bach.

On five-course guitar he plays Giacomo Merchi's setting of La Folia (Folia Di Spagna) - with  twenty or so variations it becomes a large-scale piece. Rarest of all, perhaps, is a Menuet Affectuoso by Geminiani, originally set for 'cythre ou guitharre allemande' by Joseph Carpentier, but Carpentier specifies that it can also be played on a guitar.

Fine playing of rare music.
