Hi Gilbert, I am not sure who you are, but good to make contact. I play a rather unusual 10 string at lowish tension (5kg) and play without nails. I broke a nail some years back, and it was the best thing that happened to my playing for decades.
I live in Yorkshire UK. Am I correct in recalling a guitarist called Sharon Isbin introduced cross string trills a while back for Scarlatti?
i just play Bach lute suites, a touch of Weiss, and Dowland.
The request for a baroque guitar came from someone who plays in a guitar trio. They do mostly modern recent compositions but they are interested in pursuing some trios with 3 baroque guitars. Might be an opportunity for some composing,...
Nice to meet you. I've been a hobby guitar builder since 1972 but am just building my first baroque guitars - let the adventure begin - I have always loved the music from that period. An ex guitar teacher of mine asked if I would build one and since I'm now retired,... There are a couple of excellent early instrument players in the area - Terry McKenna (professor of music at Wilfred Laurier University) and Magdalenna Tomsinska - another local teacher, originally from Poland where she got her degree in Lute playing. Not sure I'll go on to attempt a lute but am certainly enjoying building the baroque guitars (a group of 5)
