Out of curiosity how long did it take you to build your guitar ?? And you used only hand tools ?? I am interested because I would very much like to build a lute and now I am very interested in the baroque guitar and vihuela.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am new at Early Guitar and Vihuela. I will gladly show you a few pieces of my artwork.... don't know if you like etchings/printmaking. I like to explore ideas of archetypes within nature that have meaning for me. Some of my work may look a little off the wall, but I do have a few friends that genuinely appreciate my work. Actually I joined the ring to educate myself about early stringed instruments such as the baroque guitar and vihuela, and also the lute. Thank you for introducing yourself.... I tend to be on the reclusive side.... I am not sure of all of the rules of this site, but I could send a follow up internet address to a few pictures of some of my artwork.
I'm not sure which guitar you are talking about, but I haven't had a chance to complete the finish on the "Mae West" (as I call it) Lacote. I work 10 hour days, that doesn't leave me much time for the guitar hobby, this winter I will have time to finish the guitar. I do have the other narrower body Lacote strung up, it sings as sweet as a skinny, sexy mezzo soprano at the New York Met. I can't say enough about the copies of the 19th century guitars that I have made.
I must say that I am finishing rather than starting! And have been concentrating on renaissance wire instruments instead of guitar for the last few years - and have never made a post-Torres guitar,....
