About me:
Carin Zwilling was born in São Paulo, Brazil, 1957. Began her musical studies at the age of 4, having piano lessons with Rosinha Spiwak, till 71. In 72 started to study classical guitar with Ronoel Simões. Attended the Seminaries of Music Pro-Arte, till 75. In 76, became student of Henrique Pinto, under whose guidance graduated Bachelor in Music at Faculty of Arts Alcântara Machado, São Paulo, 1980.
In 82, won a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Israel to do an Artist Diploma in guitar at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy, under the guidance of Joseph Urshalmi. In 83 obtained a diploma at the Vienna Conservatory, guitar master course by Konrad Ragossnig. Attended to the Lute Society Summer School, in London, having lute lessons with Diana Poulton, Robert Spencer, Nigel North, Christopher Wilson and Anthony Bailes. In 85, won a scholarship from the Dutch Ministry of Arts and Science to study at Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam, specializing in Renaissance and Baroque Lute, under the guidance of Anthony Bailes.
Coming back to Brazil was admitted at the University of Campinas, where she studied toward a Master Degree in History of Arts. In 1996, graduated Master in History with the dissertation, Thomas Robinson’s The Schoole of Musicke - a translation with comments to Portuguese and a musical transcription of an English treatise of the beginning of the seventeenth century.
In 2003 obtained her Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) at the University of São Paulo, in the area of English Language and Literature, developing the thesis The Scene Songs of William Shakespeare – rescue of the original songs, transcription and translation into Portuguese, under the orientation of Prof. Doc. John Milton.
Performed in many concerts of guitar and lute in Austria, Germany, Holland, Israel and Argentina.
In Brazil presented as lute performer as member of the Ars Nova Ensemble, Talea Ensemble, Companhia Mercurius, Bach Society Orchestra, and recently became a member of the Baroque Orchestra of Indaiatuba.
In England played at the Opera Albion and Albanius by Grabu, sponsored by the Elmgrant Trust during the Dartington International Summer School, 97.
Worked as Counterpoint Assistant of Doc. Hans Joachim Koellreutter at Faculty of Arts Paulista. From 93 to 97 taught Harmony and Counterpoint at the Municipal School of Music, São Paulo. Since 98 is teaching Aesthetic of Music at the Faculty of Arts Santa Marcelina and Chamber Early Music at the University of São Paulo.
