Came across these amazing Hard maple planks last week. Already have a request for an 8 string Viennese replica from it. One feature of the Viennese style was the one piece backs on their guitars.  These days we don't have access to the big trees that were so common two hundred years ago but it would seem that they also suffered this shortcoming. Occassionally one see two piece backs but they are relatively rare...so for this instrument, I'm going with rare all around.
