Originally the stripes were meant to be just that, but by accident whilst turning one, it warmed up enough in the lathe to melt the glue and allow the peg to twist! The result was so surprising and pleasant that we decided to make twisted pegs for several baroque guitars. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now. Do give it a try!
Love the stripes. There are several odd pegs at Haddon Hall, Derbyshire, including French baroque guitar. I identified some pieces of bone as wrest pins from a lyre or harp when my wife was a helper at an excavation at Castle Acre castle many years ago.
