Yes, it sounds great. I'm using a high g too, but without bourdons. I never thought of using it with the bourdon on the fourth course. I'll try it some day.
The last years I have been using a high g on the third course mainly because the music of Gaspar Sanz.
I know there are no historical evidence for this practice but it gives the music, especially the Passacalles, more meaning. I think Hopkinson Smith also use a high g on his Sanz CD.
