The wonderful thing about the Stauffer guitars (and others) is the use of the metal saddle, in this case brass. It means both ends of the string is resting on metal (Saddle/Frets) with the exception of the open strings. Some Stauffer style guitars have a zero fret which means even the open strings ride on metal at both ends.
