Not many Viennese models had a back binding but occassionally one pops up (one that came originally with the binding not added later due to repairs). I thought because of the intensity of the figure in this maple a little line to break the wavey flow was in order. Afterall, this wood was originally rejected by a fellow restoring his sailboat because it was "seasickness inducing"...not a good thing on an offshore sailboat, I'm guessing. ;)
