Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

This is the intricate joinery in the neck of Stauffer and others who made the "Legnani" style instruments. I have traced the joint with a pencil line to make it stand out more for the photo. I always get melancholy when i think that this beautiful feature of the instrument is just blacked over and most never get to see it.

Amazing indeed!

Is that simply butt-jointed?
