Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Traditional French Polish is applied to back and sides. Nothing brings out the depth of figured woods like Shellac.

Thanks Akira. It is a one piece. I found a board at the local lumber supplier about ten years back that was just wide enough for one piece backs on modern guitars but I could get one piece backs for Early Romantic plus the sides. This is the fifth or sixth I've made from this board and have just enough for one more. Birdseye of this quality is pretty rare.

And yes, the client is very happy with the guitar.

Hi, Scot, this is a gorgeous piece of birdseye!  Is it one-piece?  The owner should be happy and proud.
