Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

This song is taken from Fasolo's collection "La barchetta Passaggiera" printed in Rome in 1627. It has an interesting history. The musicologist Oscar Chilesotti possessed the only original copy which was lost during WW2. By chance this facsimile of a single song was included in an article in "Encyclopedia de la musique et dictionnaire du conservatoire" (1925). It is unusual because figures are placed above the alfabeto letters to indicate how many time the chord should be repeated when strumming the accompaniment.
