The 250 watt halogen bulb is mounted in a small (i.e. "chandelier") threaded porcelain socket that is screwed to the particle board. I had to file the inside rim of the pipe flange slightly to clear the socket. The bulb is only 1/2 as long as the pipe; the pipe heats quite unevenly at first, but it evens out somewhat with time.
