Shakespeare: Renaissance or Baroque Guitar?

have been asked to play in a Shakespeare event. given that he died in 1616, would four or five course guitars have been used in his plays and during his time? i'm thinking of collaborating with a renaissance flute player, and playing simple Playford tunes - some with melody on flute with strummed accompaniment, some as lute solos.

I don't know if tenaisance guitar was usend in his plays but it was cetainly usen in England durinh his time.
