Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Somebody on a lute discussion board recently posted links to music in the Bayerische StaatsBibliothek online catalogue (of downloadable music).

I was looking through the catalogue and came across some very unfamiliar (to me, maybe not to anyone else) 19th century guitar composers. E.g.: Salzman, Medeotti, Sandrini, J.G. Rack, D. Dottori, Johann von Fier, F. Tuczek, D. Dottori, Placido Figlioli.

Here's a link to a Duo Concertant pour duex guitares by Prudent-Louis Aubery Du Boulley  (great name!)

There is some music by Castro and also by Bedard for guitar ou lyre - but it looks just like typical guitar music,  mainly aimed at guitarists.

Thanks Stuart, all these interesting unknown composers... the Castro has been mentioned here before but it seems that the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek keeps adding new items!
