Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

Just wondering is anyone out there plays one of Alexander Hopkins Catalan or Castilian Model Baroque guitars. Seems like I saw some reference to one a while back but cannot find it.

Very pretty and different instruments...especially the Castillian model.

Im playing a catalan baroque guitar from Hopkins - very good "big" sound (not thin like some baroque guitars) - also very responsive to "rasgueados" without being noisy - very pleased with his work of art:-)
really worth the money! You can see it live here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbmhpZzAwgE
I think hes a member here? Enjoy!
Thank you Michael! That's where I saw it. The Grave-Allegro video also gives a good example of the various tones the instrument has. Beautiful! I was surprised, not quite what I expected. I can see why you are "very pleased".
