In preparation for our upcoming CD recording we are presenting a free concert of beautiful music from Renaissance Spain.
The program features dances and songs by some of Spain's best-loved composers -- including Luis Milan's 6 Pavanas (with specially composed glossas), and songs by Juan Vasquez, Alonso Mudarra, and Matteo Flecha -- all played on a matching set of four vihuelas (the Spanish cousin of the lute). This program will be recorded in August for a commercial CD release.
Vihuelists: Ed Martin, Phil, Rukavina, Rocky Mjos, Tyler Kaiser
Vocalist: Carrie Henneman Shaw, winner of the 2010-2011 McKnight Artist Fellowships for Performing Musicians administered by MacPhail Center for Music.
Vihuelas and strings: Dan Larson, Duluth, who made the lutes seen in the recent Robin Hood movie.
Arrangements: Tyler Kaiser
