Hi Tim, I see you got in touch with George.  I mostly play Bach and Sor (Giuliani, Carcassi, etc.).

Tim,

Since your 2012 post, I have built 7 Panormos based on the plans from the Edinburgh Musical Instrument Museum.  Was at the museum in March to do acoustical testing on the original instrument and read a PhD thesis in Cambridge on early 19th Cent guitar building in London.  Spent a few days with James Westbrook who is the world's expert on the Panormo.  It was a humbling experience.   I machine most of my wood, but buy from a suppler in WV, and the normal Lmii and StewMac.  LMII will do custom machining.   All the Best, George

Hi Timothy.  I personally just play copies of early instruments--Romantic guitars.  I can provide you with George Thomas email:  githomas1812@gmail.com.   He has been focusing on Panormo copies but he is also interested in making Torres copies in the future.  Lawrence K. Brown in Weaverville NC used to make Lacote copies--after he gave up on lutes and vihuelas--not sure what he is up to these days.  Take care, Daniel

Hi Timothy,  I am also in Charlotte and interested in early guitars. We have a luthier in town starting to specialize in Panormo copies, George Thomas.  There may be enough of us locally to start a group. Best. Daniel
