Early Guitars and Vihuela

A network for historic guitars and vihuelas

I've been reading through the music of Guillaume Morlaye for four course guitar and have come across a marking I'm not sure what to do with.

In the attachment below, see measure, where there is a dot next to the d on the first and second course. There's also a similar noting in the 8th measure on the cdc. I assume this means to play the two or three courses with the "i" finger like a little strum. Is this correct? If so, is it generally played upwards (highest to lowest) or ?

I keep a MS Word file of an instruction by Taro Takeuchi, London-based Early guitar/Lute player, on these dots saved from his website.  He also notes that the dotted figures indicate that they are to be played with the "i" finger.  So, the "cdc" in question should be, as you assumue, strummed upwards.

Thank you Akira. That's what I thought but wasn't sure.

I'd recently had a discussion concerning rolling of chords in early instrumental music and the memory of that conversation had me wondering if those were indications of that technique...but that solution didn't really make sense.
