Dr. Jeffrey now has Ferandiere's dates as c. 1742 - c. 1803.

Brian Jeffrey is about to publish not only these "Seis Duos" but also a reprint of Ferandiere's "Arte de tocar la guitarra española por música" (Madrid, 1799). This is a new edition of the same work that he published in the 70's for which he has done extensive new research on Ferandiere. He quotes the dates that you mention but his new research seems to suggest the dates I have given. You'll have to get the editions when they come out for an exhaustive recent resumé of Ferandiere. Keep checking the Tecla website. But I will let you know when these are available.
I've just now found some music on IMSLP, where it says that he lived from 1771 - 1816. heres a link. http://imslp.org/wiki/Contradanza_(Ferrandiere,_Fernando)
and on wikipedia it says 1740 - 1816. I dont know that much about him and would be happy to know more :-)
awesome. I've got to have this music. Thanks for sharing it here :-)

Brian Jeffrey discovered the neat hand-written copy in the Biblioteca Histórica Municipal, Madrid. As Ferandiere died c.1803 it must be amongst some of the earliest music for 6-string guitar duo.
