Thanks, Jean-Marie, for your contribution to guitar iconography. I spotted what looks like a theorboed guitar in one of the pictures (No.3). Where do they come from and what sort of date? Very enjoyable performance of Fuenllana's piece for vihuela de 5 ordenes (or, as we now say, 5-course guitar;) too!

There is absolutely no fault in recording this Fuenllana piece on the baroque guitar. In fact, it would be, at least from acoustical point of view (and that's what mostly matters here!), pretty much the same instrument as the vihuela.

Those pictures by Daniel Rabel are really fascinating, bearing in mind they came from such an early date. Thanks a lot again for publishing more of them! Because the numbering is now changed, it the one with "Chantres Grenadins" that I had in mind earlier and which depicts a theorboed guitar. Well, it does even make sense in this particular context, where the two fellows with guitars provide accompaniment for the singer!

It was great to hear the Handel cantata. I had always assumed that it was for guitar but there was a discussion elsewhere as to whether this was really the case which was why I put the photo on my site. My friend June Yakeley performed it at a concert as long ago as 1985. Monica

Thank you for the great interpretation of the Händel cantata. Did you use a modern guitar or some other instrument? Will you be posting your F. de Gallot prelude? I would like to hear your interpretation.

I am not sure if Luis Antonio was aware of the Händel cantata at the time he wrote the dissertation. I believe he does not mention it at all.

The Händel cantata calls for some very low bass notes. Did you move them an octave up or were they played by the keyboard?
